Strategic Humanitarian Services (SHUMAS) is a developmental and humanitarian Non-Governmental Organization with main mission being to reduce poverty and empower people to realize the fullest of their potentials, without compromising posterity. SHUMAS is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to play a critical role in our Integrated Nutrition and Health Initiative. 

Position: Finance Assistant

Location: Logon and Chari Divisions in the Far North Region, Cameroon

Job Summary:

The Finance Assistant will be responsible for managing all financial aspects of the project, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and donor requirements. The successful candidate will play a key role in budgeting, expenditure tracking, financial reporting, and providing financial guidance to project staff.

Key Responsibilities:

·       Manage all financial aspects of the project, including budgeting, expenditure tracking, and financial reporting.

·        Collaborate with the organization’s accounting team to ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulations, and donor requirements.

·       Prepare and submit accurate and timely financial reports to the Project Manager and stakeholders.

·       Monitor project expenditures against budget and identify any potential overspending or under spending.

·       Process payments to vendors, partners, and staff in a timely and accurate manner.

·       Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.

·       Work closely with the Project Manager to develop and manage the project budget.

·       Provide financial guidance and support to project staff.

·       Keep account of the physical stock of the project.

·       Submit daily, weekly, and monthly plans and reports of activities.

•        Demonstrate a strong and unwavering commitment to preventing Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) in all aspects of your work.

•        Sign a code of conduct, strictly adhere to the organization’s guidelines on PSEA, and actively promote a culture of respect, integrity, and accountability among team members and within the community.

Qualifications and Skills:

Essential:

·       At least a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.

·       Minimum of 3 years of experience working with a humanitarian organization in a finance-related role.

·       Strong knowledge of financial management principles and practices.

·       Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

·       Proficient in French and working knowledge in English

Desirable:

•        Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

•        Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

•        Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

•        Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
